NEXETIS signs three Japanese riders and enters into a partnership with NIPPO
Mizuki Ikeda, Yurina Kinoshita and Tsuyaka Uchino are joining the new Swiss women's team NEXETIS. The signing of the promising trio is linked to a partnership between NEXETIS and the Japanese construction company NIPPO.
The UCI Continental Team NEXETIS launched by Swiss Cycling in November is receiving support from the Far East – on and off the roads: while the Japanese riders Mizuki Ikeda, Yurina Kinoshita and Tsuyaka Uchino are strengthening team manager Anna Wiese's selection, NIPPO will be present as a partner on the NEXETIS jerseys.
Ikeda and Uchino were part of the Japanese track squad at the Olympic Games in Paris, while Uchino won a bronze medal in the points race at the World Championships in Glasgow the year before. Kinoshita, on the other hand, was part of the trio that represented Japan in the road race at the World Championships in Zurich last September. The signing of the Asian riders came about through their connection to Daniel Gisiger. The long-standing Swiss national track coach has been employed at the High Performance Centre of Japan Cycling (HPCJC) for two years.
NIPPO is a Japanese company that is mainly active in road construction, but also builds velodromes. Through its business activities, NIPPO has developed an affinity for cycling; in the last decade, it has been a partner of several international cycling teams.
“I'm looking forward to working with the HPCJC and NIPPO and I'm sure that the talented Japanese athletes will be an asset to our young team”, says team manager Anna Wiese.
