NEXETIS celebrates numerous successes and helps a talented rider make the step up to the World Tour

The Swiss development team has made great progress and won several one-day races and stage races. Now, Ginia Caluori has become the first NEXETIS rider to make the step up to the World Tour. She will be riding for Team Movistar from next season.

At the end of 2024, Swiss Cycling launched the Continental Team NEXETIS- with the aim of offering up-and-coming Swiss female cyclists the opportunity to develop and flourish in a familiar environment, to compete in several cycling disciplines simultaneously, and to recommend themselves for a career in professional cycling through strong performances. The strategy is proving successful and the groundwork is bearing fruit: the athletes have made significant progress both individually and as a team; in the current season, the team led by sports director Edi Telser has won numerous one-day races and smaller stage races.

And now, a year and a half after the team was founded, the first NEXETIS athlete has secured promotion to the World Tour. Former MTB specialist Ginia Caluori is moving to the Spanish Movistar team for the coming season, where she will be a team-mate of time trial world champion Marlen Reusser. «l'm really looking forward to this new adventure. At the sametime, 1 am extremely grateful to NEXETIS. lt is only thanks to their multidisciplinary strategy, their development-focused approach and the excellent support that I had the opportunity to try my hand at road cycling and realise that my physical abilities might be even better suited to road cycling», says Caluori.

Caluori's transfer is also of great significance to the team management. «Over the last years, Ginia has matured from anovice into a leader and a winner. Her development is proof to us that we are on the right track and that our training programme is helping to increase the number of Swiss warnen in professional cycling», says Edi Telser, who also serves as the women's national coach.
